2017 KIA Soul for Sale Topeka Kansas

From the get-go, the Soul has always flirted with a clear bodystyle and functional definition. Is it an SUV, hatchback, or wagon? However, to its ardent fans, it matters little; it is a vehicle that includes ample interior room, terrific fuel economy, and a fun driving character. The 2017 model year appears in the middle of the Soul's second production cycle, and KIA has spruced things up a bit. There's a new turbocharged engine available, some features that were previously optional are now standard, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is available for the first time in the nameplate's history. The 2017 Soul is split into three trims: Base, + (Plus), and ! (Exclaim).

The 2017 KIA Soul is classified as a subcompact car, but it actually provides more interior space than its designation suggests. Passenger volume tops out at 101 cubic feet, and maximum standard cargo space is measured at 24.2 cubic feet. A 60/40 split-folding rear seatback enables you to stretch cargo space to 61.3 cubic feet. Front seating includes a 6-way adjustable driver's seat. In the Exclaim, the cloth seat trim gives way to a black cloth-and-leather covering with orange contrast stitching, and the steering wheel and shift knob are wrapped in leather. For comfort and convenience, the Soul includes Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel-mounted controls, a Flexsteer™ steering wheel mode controller, and a six-speaker stereo system with AM/FM radio and a complimentary SiriusXM satellite radio subscription among its interior features. KIA adds cruise control, a rear camera with a 5-inch touchscreen display, Active Eco for improving fuel efficiency, remote keyless entry, and automatic climate control with ionizer on the Plus. The Exclaim tops out with a smart key system, engine immobilizing ability, push-button engine start, the aforementioned Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for smartphone-based infotainment control, UVO eServices in-car connectivity, and a 7-inch touchscreen (in place of the Plus's 5-inch).

At the base level, the 2017 Soul counts multi-reflector headlights, a rear wiper, and dual power side mirrors among its exterior features. On the Plus, the side mirrors get heating capability, fog lights are added at the front fascia, and the headlights come with auto light control to turn them on or off depending on how bright it is outside. The Exclaim gets turn-signal indicators on the mirrors, and there is a chrome twin exhaust system leading out from the engine (instead of a single exhaust). Also, the Exclaim rides on 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels; the Base and the Plus get 16s and 17s, respectively.

Using a front-wheel drivetrain, the 2017 KIA Soul has a steel unibody construction to ensure sturdiness and engineering integrity. The car uses electric power steering, which produces a curb-to-curb turning circle of 34.8 ft. A MacPherson strut front suspension and coupled torsion beam axle rear suspension-fortified by a stabilizer bar at the front and gas shock absorbers on both ends-keep the Soul driving smoothly, regardless of road condition.

The aforementioned turbocharged engine is reserved for the Exclaim-and it alone. Going by the model name Gamma T-GDI-the "T" denotes its turbocharger-the engine is a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder (I4) that generates 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Also exclusive to the Exclaim is a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, which comes with Sportmatic technology for exercising greater control over gear shifting. The Plus comes with the Nu, which is a 2.0-liter I4 that maxes out at 161 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. It is tied to an electronically controlled 6-speed automatic transmission, which, like the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, has a Sportmatic shifter. The Base trim is left with a 1.6-liter Gamma II engine that generates 130 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque. Although the standard 6-speed manual it gets does not have Sportmatic technology, you can opt for the 6-speed automatic to include it.

For protection when there's an auto collision, the 2017 KIA Soul provides a pair of front impact airbags, which face the front occupants; a pair of side impact airbags, which are installed on the front seats; and a pair of side curtains, which are installed on the roof. Disc brakes are on all wheels to maximize the quickness of response to brake pedal pressure, an anti-lock braking system is in place to keep the wheels from locking up on sudden stops, and electronic brake-force distribution properly allocates stopping power to the wheels. Also on board are electronic stability control for keeping you on the intended driving path and hill start assist control to prevent the car from rolling backward when driving from a stopped position on a hill.
